Gumeracha – First Garment Workshop with Dear Pru Part 2

Gumeracha is a fun, chunky cardigan designed by Pru Raymond, suitable for knitters undertaking their first knitted garment. In this two-part workshop, you will be supported through the process of garment production: from taking accurate body measurements and creating a reuseable personal template to refer to when selecting sizes and planning other knitted garments, through to seaming and finishing techniques. An optional check in/ virtual knit a long via Zoom is included.

Pre-requisite skills: knit, purl, cast on.

Materials Required

Each student will need:
•• 5- 7 skeins of Malabrigo Rasta Super Bulky (150g/ 82m, 100% Merino)
OR 7-10 skeins of NNK Yarns Chunky (100g/70m, 80% superwash merino, 20% Nylon)
** for contrast cuffs & band, replace 1 skein
• 12mm & 15mm 80-100cm circular knitting needles
• 100cm waste yarn for provisional cast on
• Optional: 10mm crochet hook for seaming

Our store will be open 15 minutes before class commences to purchase materials and wind yarn into a cake as required.Instruction booklets will be provided. Pens, scissors and gauge rulers/ measuring tapes will be available to borrow.

She is passionate about supporting knitters to build skills and confidence while connecting with others through a shared love of being creative. Pru’s workshops are engaging and inclusive of all learners, drawing on extensive experience in secondary and tertiary education and a lifetime of knitting. Dear Pru knitting patterns are available in print internationally, and online.

As an experienced teacher with a current SA teaching registration and current
police clearance, I am highly qualified to teach children and young adults.
