Colourwork Weekend – Contemporary Stranded Colourwork with MJ Mucklestone
Knit bold contemporary looks using the principles of traditional Fair Isle knitting. Mary Jane will share her love of stranded knitting by embracing traditional techniques that simplify the work while modernizing the look with graphic geometric shapes and a contemporary take on color. We will create a sampler using Mary Jane’s Flying Geese Cowl as a template, experimenting with color and shapes. Mary Jane will help guide your color choices and offer tips on stranded knitting techniques.
SKILL LEVEL: intermediate knitter ; students should be comfortable to knit and purl in the round with two colours at a time (easy colourwork), reading from charts, cast-on, bind -off

There will be no admittance from 10 minutes after class commences

About the Designer
Mary Jane Mucklestone is a knitwear designer, teacher, and author of six knitting books specializing in stranded colorwork. Her volumes, 200 Fair Isle Motifs and 150 Scandinavian Motifs, sit on thousands of knitter’s bookshelves worldwide. Endlessly inspired by traditional knitting, she likes to apply vintage ideas to modern knitwear.
Her latest book, Grand Shetland Adventure Knits, co-authored with her friend, designer Gudrun Johnston, takes the knitter on a trip to Shetland. Shot on location in stunning scenery, it includes patterns for the knits to wear or knit while visiting Shetland or wherever your adventures take you!
Mary Jane loves to teach and is thrilled to have the opportunity to visit Australia. She specializes in lively informative classes where history, craft, fashion, and location meet. With lots of personal attention, she aims to give students the courage to try something new.
Refunds and Attendance
You are able to cancel or change dates up to 10 days prior to the workshop or class to receive a full refund. This ensures your spot can be made available for another interested student. Less than 10 days prior to the workshop or class we will be unable to reschedule or refund the cost. You may however transfer your booking to a friend. We ask that in all cases you contact Yarn Trader if you will not be attending.
If for any reason Yarn Trader must cancel a workshop or class for any other reason a full refund will be given or by agreement your booking may be transferred to another class.
